2005 REPORT

Record Accomplishments

  • Record number of new projects in production!
  • Record largest size for a Zero Speed™ stabilizer system – 4-fins on a 115 meter yacht – installed and running with excellent results
  • Record smallest size for a Zero Speed™ stabilizer system – 2-fin system on a 27 meter yacht
  • Record number of Zero Speed™ vessels in service: now 90+
  • Record new launches
  • Record number of stabilizer conversions/upgrades to existing yachts
  • Record number of miles traveled by Mike Perkins! (Delta's CEO personally dropped off an early holiday card at Mike's house.)
Innovation and Design

  • Quantum's latest Zero Speed™ software has shown remarkable results. The systems just keep getting better and better in terms of performance over a broad range of conditions. In the past, the systems worked extremely well in the worst conditions where the swells were at or near the vessel's natural roll frequency. The latest versions of software have proven that we can deliver almost the same performance at quite large diversions from this “resonant condition.”

    Maglift-™ Stabilizer Fin

  • Quantum's first MagLift™ (rotary stabilizer system) with full Zero Speed™ capability was launched and successfully sea trialed – the results are excellent!!! (Click the image on the right for more on this Quantum News article.)

  • Quantum's new HydraLogic™ controller for our acclaimed Integrated Hydraulic Systems is now in the final testing stage, and will be introduced in the coming months.

  • Quantum has introduced a complete new family of large HPUs for the very large yacht projects and commercial/military applications. These units have pushed the envelope even further in terms of noise abatement and efficiency.

  • The Quantum Controls BV team in Holland has been busy as usual coming up with new products and technologies. Our Dutch colleagues never seem to run out of ideas for product development. We will be announcing the specifics of these as our R&D produces tangible results and data – stay tuned for some very exciting innovations.

New Faces at Quantum

Peter Grenfell   Peter Grenfell has joined Quantum as General Manager. Peter comes from a prestigious industrial instrumentation group in the UK, bringing a wealth of experience in production efficiencies and management of large international projects. Peter will be working out of our US headquarters in Ft. Lauderdale, and his appointment to this crucial position is a timely one indeed.

Luke Briant   Luke Briant, formerly of Rolls Royce Marine, has joined Quantum's Commissioning and Support Team. Luke's technical background, reputation in the marine industry, and experience in field service will provide welcome assistance to Al Grant's globe-trotting activities as we try to keep up with all the new launches around the world.

Maria Sotoj   Maria Sotoj joined the Sales and Marketing Department in the position of Marketing Coordinator. She will be handling most of the administrative tasks and helping Mike Perkins keep up with the customer contacts and boat show schedules. Maria has been with Quantum for some years and her experience, "can do" attitude and dedication are most welcome in the new position.
