Quantum Marine Engineering of Florida, Inc and Quantum Controls BV recently completed delivery of the largest fins ever built for a non-retractable ZeroSpeed™ installation. Quantum's ZeroSpeed™ stabilizer systems remain the world standard for active fin stabilization for use while at anchor or drifting, with over 60 vessels enjoying ZeroSpeed™ and OnAnchor™ by autumn of 2004; and look for sea trials and commissioning on this breakthrough system in February and March of 2005.

    Quantum manufactured this four-fin system engineered for a 115 meter yacht built by a world-class builder; and the stabilizer system retrofit and upgrade will be overseen by Blue Ocean Yacht Management. This Quantum Zero Speed™ system uses a four-fin configuration, with 2 x 16 m2 (172 ft2) fins for the forward fin pair, and 2 x 10 m2 (108 ft2) fins for the aft pair.

    Rigorous model testing in Germany demonstrated excellent motion control, roll stabilizer, and comfort control underway and in ZeroSpeed™ mode, and has provided valuable input for the production and installation process. Mike Perkins, Quantum's VP of Business Development, reported that “Quantum's technical heritage provided the builder a level of confidence that a project of this scope requires.
