Cayman Approval Letter MCA/SOLAS Rescue Boat Davit |
This is to certify that, at the request of Quantum Marine Engineering of Florida, Inc. the undersigned surveyor to the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry did attend their premises at West Sunrise Boulevard, Plantation, Florida on the 31 August 2001 for the purpose of witnessing operational and functional tests of a rescue boat davit Emergency Power Unit.
The unit consisted of the following equipment and was stated to be intended for the Palmer Johnson vessel Hull Number 226 (Anson Bell):
The unit was assembled in accordance with Drawing Number: Q-800-H-A0166 and test certification for the crane and steel wires were sighted and found satisfactory. Operational testing of the crane was carried out using main electrical power, thereby simulating the vessel's primary crane hydraulic system. With the Diesel Emergency Auxiliary Power (DEAP) unit in the operational state the main power was disconnected and the crane's functions re-tested both in the remote and local conditions. All tests were completed satisfactorily. The Emergency Power Unit, as described above, is therefore considered suitable for use as a secondary means of power for a rescue boat davit as required by of The Code of Practice for Safety of Large Commercial Sailing & Motor Vessels, subject to on board installation and testing being carried out to the satisfaction of the attending surveyor.
